Desert Living CHALLENGE

Bloodhound Technical Camp on Jakskeen Pan – Nov 2019
It took a global search to find the Hakskeen pan in South Africa, where Bloodhound LSR will run, but finding it was just the start. This practical workshop tasks students to provide solutions to the environmental challenges of a desert environment, helping them understand the role of STEM in solving global issues and giving them the confidence to make a difference to the world around them.
Suitable for:
- KS2 / KS3 / KS4
Curriculum and STEM skills:
- Geography: Desert climate & environment
- Design & Technology: Designing sustainable structures
- Maths: Problem solving, calculations
Employability skills:
- Awareness of STEM roles and careers
- Planning & organising
- Communication, listening & time management
- Teamwork, problem solving
Duration:
- 2 hr sessions to ½ day workshop
Student numbers:
- From 30 for classroom experience to 60 per ½ day session
