Calculating Velocity: Maths activity
Description:
This is a distance/time graph KS3 activity centred around the real data from Bloodhound’s testing runs in Newquay.
Objectives:
To understand how BLOODHOUND LSR’s Engineers use speed and distance data to improve the performance of a supersonic jet and rocket car.
To calculate and convert speed and distance measurements from real, raw data.
To create and interpret velocity/time graphs.
KS3: Curriculum Links:
Ask Questions and develop a line of enquiry based on observations of the real world, alongside prior knowledge and experience.
Apply Mathematical concepts and calculate the results.
Use and derive simple equations and carry out appropriate equations. Speed and the quantitative relationship between average speed, distance and time ( speed = distance ÷ time)
