NOBLE TALKS SPEED RECORDS WITH PORSCHE OWNERS

Porsche owners and other invited guests in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, were treated to an entertaining evening with Richard Noble OBE just before Christmas in the town’s Porsche Centre, plus the chance to see the full-size Bloodhound show car and learn more about it from a team of Bloodhound Education Ambassadors.

At the event, Richard presented the history of world land speed records and his involvement with the sport dating back more than 30 years, including his successful record attempt in 1983 when he travelled at 633.468mph (1,019km/h). His presentation and imagery totally captivated the audience of 150 guests plus Porsche showroom and workshop staff.

Ambassador initiative

Porsche - showcar 2The evening was the initiative of Bloodhound Education Ambassador Hugh Roberts and followed on from a similarly successful event which he brokered at the Porsche Club Great Britain in Moreton-in-Marsh in March 2019. The Tewkesbury event was so popular that they had to stop taking applications well before the cut-off date!

Hugh, who has been an Ambassador for several years, arranged the event as a fundraising activity for the charity and he’s now hopeful that other Porsche centres may host similar evenings to spread the word about Bloodhound.

Hugh also hopes others will be inspired by the success of Bloodhound and join him in becoming Bloodhound Ambassadors.

“I became an Events and Education Ambassador several years ago as a result of meeting Richard plus Andy Green,” explained Hugh. “On the back of that, I’ve also become a government STEM Ambassador in Gloucestershire, where I assist, on average, at one or two events a week in term-time performing up to five different roles, including practice interviews and young entrepreneur events. The role of Ambassadors in promoting STEM subjects and helping students is really important.”
