The Bloodhound Education Centre put through its paces

The new Bloodhound Education Centre opened its doors to pupils in March. Giving a wide range of pupils the opportunity to experience Bloodhound workshops and activities for themselves.
Everyone had a great time and the teachers and young engineers gave us some really positive feedback.

3D printing face shields for #HealthCareHeroes keeps Mike busy

An ongoing campaign by our very own engineer has provided West Norfolk’s healthcare workers with hundreds of face shields as part of efforts to maintain good levels of personal protective equipment (PPE) during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mike Ford has produced over 2000 face shields for West Norfolk’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital, local care homes, the Tapping House Hospice, the Borough Council and Norfolk and Norwich Hospital
Utilizing the 3D printers we usually use for demonstration in the classroom, Mike continues to put his engineering skills to good use through the pandemic.

More free home learning resources being added to our website

One of the many challenges of Covid-19 has been home learning. We have been busy adapting classroom workshops and creating new activities so the exciting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) activities for the young and curious can have fun and keep learning.
Click here for videos, slide shows, notes for ‘teachers’ and loads of fun activities covering many topics and linked to the curriculum.

Resources feedback from one of our tireless teachers
‘I absolutely love it when science and STEM really come to life. My belief is it’s so important for children of all ages to see the relevance of these subjects and learn about real world situations and their place in it all. The Bloodhound Education activities, challenges, tasks and resources really do this. Running an online science club it was a privilege to work alongside Rob in developing a challenge for the club to complete. The Bloodhound Education team are fantastic and always available for input plus responding to tasks is a real positive and wonderful for young people to see how important their work is. A series of videos and tasks were also set for the wider school audience to have a go at completing. The vast amount of resources ensure there really is something for everyone no matter of age or interest. It was wonderful to see my students excitedly responding to tasks. All activities are also really well developed to make sure everyone is able to complete them whether at home, school or a club with easy to follow step by step guides and full explanation behind each task. I look forward to a time when we are able to visit the Bloodhound Education Centre’

We’re saddened to announce that one of our most longest serving and enthusiastic ambassadors John Wood, known to everyone as “Woody” has passed away after a short illness. Woody will be very much missed at our events and by all his friends in the land speed and motor racing world. Our deepest condolences to his family.
Support us
We couldn’t do what we do without the support of our education partners and sponsors. With new STEM roles expected to double in the next 10 years and a 2017 shortfall of 173,000 skilled STEM professionals, working with us means you’ll be helping support the development of new STEM talent.
Get in touch if you would like to discuss supporting our inspirational work with children and young people.
